Junebug has discovered a new passion: rock climbing. Or, I should clarify, "rock" wall climbing at the gym her dad takes her to on weekends, and sometimes weekdays after school. They decided to try it out over the holiday break. Needless to say, it was a big hit. She can't get enough of it.
We always knew Junebug was a lover of climbing, ever since she discovered how to climb out of her crib -- again and again and again -- just before she turned two years old, just as I was so pregnant with the twins I could hardly lift a cup of tea, much less heave her 25 pounds back into bed. I am so grateful I had an able and willing co-parent.

Speaking of lifting cups of tea... I'm going on my seventh week of being sick. I'm not going to lie: it's been pretty grueling.
First, it was a cold after Thanksgiving. Then we all got the flu in early December -- the terrible, horrible, bona fide flu with fevers and sweats and chills and achy bones and the whole deal. Thank goodness my parents were visiting from California that week to help!
My flu turned into a sinus infection around Christmastime, at which point I decided to give up on the eucalyptus oil steam baths and ingest 7 days worth of antibiotics. This worked temporarily. As soon as the antibiotic treatment ended, the congestion was back... And so back to Eastern wisdom I went, off to the farmer's market to talk with Farmacy Mary and purchase some Finest Sinus Tea. And now, scheduling my first appointment with my local (and amazing, so says my husband) Doctor of Acupuncture.
I'm finally on the upswing, I think, I hope. Drinking the sinus tea while I write this. Sip, sip, sip.

You may have noticed in the sidebar of my blog that I am taking a photography course this month from Squam Art Workshops. The "Intuitive Lens" course runs for three weeks and is taught online by the fantastic Thea Coughlin.
So, for the next three weeks, I'm going to try to give myself the gift of focusing on this class... which will probably mean less posts on the blog during this time. Thanks for bearing with me. Hopefully the result will be better photographs on the blog in the future!

Last but not least, let me end this blog post with a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout-out to our beloved Nanny Lori!
Lori is like a special Auntie to our kids, or perhaps a younger, much more fetching fairy godmother -- and without her I would be a very, very unwell person. The love, patience, laughter, energy, and support that she gives to my children and to our family is an immeasurable gift. Living as far from our biological families as we do, we never would have made it through these past two years without her.
Thank you, Lori. May you enjoy lots of red velvet cake today! Cheers to *you*.

Thanks for such a thoughtful birthday wish Jenn and providing me with the red velvet cake portion of it ~ YUM! These pictures bring back such heart felt memories of when your children were young ~ so glad to have you all in my life.
Hugs & kisses
Fairy godmother/auntie/nanny Lori
