I just completed this pleated tote bag for Nanny Lori's Christmas present. Yep, that's right. I finally got it done, in March. (Aren't all Christmas gifts more fun when delivered about three months behind schedule?) :)
I used this fabulous pleated tote pattern from Ellen Luckett Baker over at The Long Thread. Lori selected the fabric herself, picking from the options in my stash. I think her choice of the mushroom print with the yellow/orange lining made for an adorable tote bag, don't you?
I also used the pattern to make these totes, below, for Junebug's preschool teachers at Christmastime.
If you're thinking about making an end-of-the-year teacher gift, I think this tote would be delightful in an elegant-yet-summery fabric like this or this, don't you?
Once I read through the pattern and cut all my pieces out, the tote took me 2.5 hours to sew, including the addition of the inside pocket (which is not part of the pattern, but which I decided to add myself).
If you decide to make this tote, or if you have another tote bag pattern that you like, leave a link and a note in the comments! I'd love to see what you're making, too...
Happy sewing!

I want one! How much ? My birthday is coming...maybe I can direct my family gift purchasers your way...
